Jenna Johnson of ‘DWTS’ Defends Her Parenting Choices

Parenting is challenging enough, but for professional dancers like Jenna Johnson and Val Chmerkovskiy, every decision is closely watched by the public.

Nevertheless, the DWTS stars are committed to raising their son, Rome, in their own way. Recently, Jenna took to social media to defend their parenting choices against criticism.

With Season 33 of Dancing with the Stars on the horizon, the Chmerkovskiys have been enjoying the final days of summer in Chicago.

“Roaming the city with my boy!” Jenna captioned an Instagram post featuring herself and Rome exploring the Windy City. However, she mentioned receiving a harsh direct message from a follower who criticized her for traveling with Rome, especially after his recent bout with croup.

“I’ve always known I would be a working mom,” Jenna wrote. “And especially in my line of work, knew I’d probably need to travel often. When we first started talking about having kids, Val and I were on the same page. Even though it might not always be the ‘comfortable’ option, we decided to bring our baby along for the ride as long as we could so we could both fulfill our dreams and be hands-on parents.”

Jenna described the joy of watching Rome experience new places. “Seeing him exploring Chicago, experiencing different cultures, foods, people, climates, and making friends around the country brings tears to my eyes. We get to share these memories as a family!”

She concluded by encouraging other parents to travel with their children and do what’s best for their families.

Instagram users showed their support for Jenna and Val in the comments, leaving positive messages. One follower wrote, “Tell her to mind her own business. Kids get sick at home too. Live your best life! You are a wonderful mother.” Another shared, “I took my son everywhere with me. I don’t regret it for a moment.”

Professional dancer Daniella Karagach and former wrestler Nikki Garcia also left encouraging messages for Jenna and Val. Clearly, many rallied around the family, supporting their decision to expose baby Rome to the world.
