Jenna Ortega First Met Michael Keaton in Full Beetlejuice Makeup

In a few weeks, Warner Bros. is set to release the eagerly awaited sequel to Tim Burton’s 1988 classic “Beetlejuice.” The film stars Winona Ryder reprising her role as the iconic Lydia Deetz and Michael Keaton as Beetlejuice. This sequel, titled “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” is set to open in theaters on September 6th and is projected to have a massive opening weekend, potentially becoming one of the biggest September releases ever.

Fans old and new can anticipate a plethora of merchandise related to the franchise, timed perfectly for the spooky season. This preparation highlights Warner Bros.’ expectation for the movie to attract a new generation of fans.

Jenna Ortega, who plays Lydia’s rebellious teenage daughter Astrid in the film, recounted her first meeting with Michael Keaton while appearing on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.” Ortega shared, “He came up behind me when I was getting a hair and makeup test, and I got a tap on the shoulder. I turned around and it was just a jumpscare, for sure. He was like, ‘Oh hey, I’m Michael,’ and he had mold peeling off his face. I played it cool until I met him for a second time out of hair and makeup because I forgot that I had already met him.”

The movie is set around the death of Charles Deetz, originally played by Jeffrey Jones. This sequel introduces Jenna Ortega as Astrid, a rebellious teenager. The Deetz family returns to Winter River, but trouble begins when Astrid starts exploring.

According to the film’s synopsis: “Still haunted by Beetlejuice, Lydia’s life is turned upside down when her rebellious teenage daughter, Astrid, discovers the mysterious model of the town in the attic. The portal to the Afterlife is accidentally opened, leading to trouble in both realms. It’s only a matter of time until someone says Beetlejuice’s name three times, and the mischievous demon returns to unleash his own brand of mayhem.”

Alongside Ortega, Ryder, and Keaton, Catherine O’Hara will return as Charles’ wife Delia Deetz. Monica Bellucci will star as Beetlejuice’s wife, while Willem Dafoe takes on the role of ghost detective Wolf Jackson. Danny DeVito is also set to appear, although his role seems to be a cameo.

Stay tuned for updates on “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” set to hit theaters on September 6th.
