Jennie Garth’s Daughters Proud of Her Friendship with Ex Peter Facinelli

Following their divorce, Jennie Garth and Peter Facinelli have found a good place in their relationship — but it took some time.

Garth, 52, and Facinelli, 50, finalized their divorce in 2013 after 12 years of marriage. In June of this year, the pair reunited on Garth’s “I Choose Me” podcast for a candid conversation about navigating life post-divorce.

Garth tells PEOPLE exclusively that it “was a choice” to invite the former “Twilight” actor to her podcast.

“I have people in my life who are going through divorce and struggling so much with it, and I feel like I have wisdom to impart on them now that I have some distance and I’ve gone through all of the emotions post-divorce,” says the “Beverly Hills, 90210” alum, who launched her new QVC clothing line, Me by Jennie Garth, on July 29.

“I just really wanted to provide some, maybe, inspiration to people that are in the dark place of divorce and let them see that there is a light at the end of the tunnel if you choose to see it,” she continues. “That’s what Peter and I ultimately wanted more than anything was to have our friendship back and be able to co-parent in a healthier way because we had been doing it all wrong for a while.”

The former couple shares daughters Luca Bella, 27, Lola Ray, 21, and Fiona Eve, 17.

Even though Garth is now married to Dave Abrams and Facinelli is engaged to Lily Anne Harrison (with whom he shares son Jack Cooper), Garth and Facinelli continue to spend time together alongside their daughters. The two exes recently reunited for a “family day out.”

Reflecting on how far she’s come with Facinelli, the “What I Like About You” alum admits she’s “so proud.”

“The girls are so happy and there’s just a big weight off my shoulders,” she adds. “That’s a conflict I don’t need to carry anymore.”

Now, Garth is focusing on growing her new all-inclusive fashion line with QVC. The collection, Me by Jennie Garth, features refined styles in modern silhouettes. Sizes range from XXS to 3X or 0-32 and prices range from $49 to $129.

“When I turned 50, I really was trying to figure out my next move. I wasn’t sure what I was doing for a living anymore, and I decided that I would like to focus on trying to help people or spread some positivity,” Garth says. “And that’s the message behind the brand, Me by Jennie Garth.”

Garth’s second-eldest daughter, Lola, is also helping the brand thrive. According to Garth, Lola is “a really smart cookie.”

“I went to her and I said, ‘I’m embarking on this journey. It’s a big, big journey and I would like to know if you would like to be a part of it?’ I said, ‘You don’t have to answer me right now. You can think about it.’ And she came back and said, ‘I want to help you with it,'” she recalls.

“From the get-go, she just really recognized where she could be of assistance and what she could take on so that I didn’t have to take on certain things,” she adds. “There’s a lot of emailing, there’s a lot of phone calls, there’s a lot of design meetings, there’s a lot of shipping and samples, and she really helps in every aspect. So I could not be more happy to have her part of it.”

Me by Jennie Garth is now available on QVC.
