Jennifer Aniston Criticizes J.D. Vance for ‘Childless Cat Ladies’ Remark

Jennifer Aniston expressed her shock over resurfaced comments made by J.D. Vance. The “Friends” alum took to her Instagram Story on Wednesday to address statements from Vance’s interview with Fox News in July 2021 that recently went viral.

In the interview clip, Vance, the author of “Hillbilly Elegy,” made controversial remarks about Democratic politicians. He suggested that the United States was being controlled by “childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives and … want to make the rest of the country miserable too.”

Aniston, 55, responded incredulously, writing, “I truly can’t believe this is coming from a potential VP of the United States.” She continued, “All I can say is… Mr. Vance, I pray that your daughter is fortunate enough to bear children of her own one day.”

The actress, who has previously opened up about her personal struggle with IVF, added, “I hope she will not need to turn to IVF as a second option. Because you are trying to take that away from her, too.”

In the same interview, Vance, 39, claimed that notable Democratic figures like Kamala Harris, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Pete Buttigieg were “people without children” who were determining the “entire future of the Democrats.”

He questioned, “How does it make any sense that we’ve turned our country over to people who don’t really have a direct stake in it?”

Vance’s comments have stirred significant controversy. He and his wife, Usha, share three children: Ewan, 6, Vivek, 4, and Mirabel, 2. He was named former President Donald Trump’s running mate on July 15. Nearly a week later, President Biden announced he would not seek re-election and endorsed Vice President Harris as the Democratic nominee.

Kamala Harris, 59, also has a family context. She is a stepmother to her husband Doug Emhoff’s two children: son Cole, 29, and daughter Ella, 25.

Aniston has previously shared her own experiences with IVF. In 2022, she detailed her “challenging” journey in an interview with Allure magazine, expressing gratitude for having gone through it. “If it wasn’t for going through that, I would’ve never become who I was meant to be,” she said.

She also revealed, “I’ve spent so many years protecting my story about IVF. I’m so protective of these parts because I feel like there’s so little that I get to keep to myself.… I don’t have anything to hide.”
