Jennifer Garner Stuck in Elevator Before ‘Deadpool 3’ Comic-Con Panel

SPOILER ALERT: This story contains spoilers for “Deadpool & Wolverine,” which is now playing in theaters

Jennifer Garner attended her first Comic-Con over the weekend, but the experience became memorable for an unexpected reason. She found herself stuck in an elevator for over an hour, and she captured the ordeal in a video shared on her Instagram. Just two minutes into being trapped, Garner humorously remarked to the camera, “I could use a Wolverine, I could use a Deadpool. I could use someone. Yeah, we’re looking for stairs.”

After 35 minutes, Garner opted to sit down, explaining, “I think I heard on an episode of ‘The Office’ or ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ or something that you’re supposed to sit, so we’re sitting.”

It wasn’t until an hour and 11 minutes had passed that firefighters were finally able to pry open the elevator doors, freeing Garner and her team. The group decided to call 911 after being trapped inside for 45 minutes.

Garner’s reference to Deadpool and Wolverine alluded to her cameo in “Deadpool & Wolverine,” where she reprises her role as Elektra from 2003’s “Daredevil” and 2005’s “Elektra.” Garner attended Comic-Con to surprise Marvel fans after a screening of “Deadpool & Wolverine” in Hall H. Leading stars Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman introduced the screening alongside director Shawn Levy. They thrilled the audience by bringing out some of the film’s biggest cameos after the screening.

Variety reported in July 2023 that Garner would be returning as Elektra in “Deadpool & Wolverine,” so her cameo was anticipated by many Marvel enthusiasts. In a 2021 interview with THR, Garner expressed her regret that the Fox-backed “Daredevil” and “Elektra” were not produced under Kevin Feige’s leadership within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“It’s such a shame, honestly, because once Kevin took over everything there was elevated: the writing, the direction, the comedy inside of the stories they were telling,” she said at the time. “And I did not have that experience.”

Now, Garner gets a taste of the MCU with her Elektra cameo in “Daredevil & Wolverine,” which scored the sixth-biggest box office opening weekend, raking in $211 million.
