Jenn’s Contestant Makes Unexpected Exit on The Bachelorette

The Bachelorette season 21 episode 3 brought the drama as expected. The heat was turned up during a group date where the suitors stripped for an audience, and another group date took place on a racetrack, where the men sped right into Jenn’s heart. However, Bachelor Nation eagerly awaited the drama teased from the previous week’s episode.

The sneak peek for episode 3 implied that an incident involving Devin might lead to his departure, a classic editing trick to mislead the audience. In reality, the confrontation stemmed from a conversation Jenn had with Aaron Erb. Aaron’s journey was nearing its end as he had received a phone call informing him that the dates for his flight training had been set.

We were treated to Aaron’s internal dilemma over whether or not he should exit the show. His video packages after the phone call focused on this tough decision: should he give up his dream to continue pursuing Jenn, or should he do what was best for him and proceed with flight training?

It was fairly obvious where Aaron was headed. His connection with Jenn wasn’t particularly strong, and she hadn’t given him a rose after a group date. So, Aaron decided to approach Jenn before the rose ceremony to inform her of his decision to leave. Jenn understood his choice, but Aaron couldn’t resist stirring the pot before his departure.

He dropped the all-too-familiar bombshell, “Some people aren’t here for the right reasons,” but refused to elaborate, merely mentioning that some men weren’t ready for marriage or were not there solely for Jenn. Naturally, this frustrated Jenn, as Aaron left her with the task of figuring out who these men were.

Jenn called out Aaron’s comment as a cruel choice but took his cryptic message to heart. She clearly stated that if any man on the show wasn’t interested in getting engaged by the end of the season or was using the show as a platform for self-promotion, they should leave. This immediately led to more infighting among the men, with Devin and Sam M. clashing again, as Sam defended Aaron and argued that his fellow suitors shouldn’t judge him.

The chaos spurred by Aaron is set to continue into the next week’s episode. The men are now scrambling to prove to Jenn that they are there for the right reasons. Additionally, Sam N. will be dealing with backlash for telling Jenn that he is falling for her and then apologizing for how it might have been perceived. Sam M. and Thomas were seen snickering and gossiping about it during episode 3, and it appears that Thomas’ private thoughts might be exposed next week, which is sure to cause more friction.
