Jeon Somi’s Label Confirms New Music Release This Week

Korean-Canadian singer Jeon Somi is gearing up to release new music later this week, as confirmed by her label.

On July 29, Jeon Somi’s K-pop agency, The Black Label, confirmed through a statement to Maeil Kyungje that she is set to release a new song and music video this coming Friday, August 2, at 1pm KST.

The label, however, has yet to provide additional details concerning the release, such as its title and whether it will be part of a larger music project in the future.

This new single will follow a year after the release of her last mini-album ‘Game Plan’, which was led by the title track ‘Fast Forward’. Prior to that release, Somi dropped her debut studio album ‘XOXO’ in October 2021.

Somi first appeared on the music scene in the 2015 reality TV series Sixteen. In the show, she competed alongside 15 other JYP Entertainment trainees for a chance to join the girl group that would later become TWICE.

Although she didn’t make the cut, Somi went on to participate in the first season of Produce 101 in 2016. She finished in first place, joining the project girl group I.O.I.

In related K-pop news, GOT7 member Yugyeom has announced his 2024 ‘Trusty’ tour, which includes stops across Asia and Australia starting in October this year. The tour will kick off with a show in Singapore before moving on to cities like Bangkok, Taipei, Sydney, and more.

Meanwhile, Netflix has released a brand-new teaser for its upcoming K-drama The Frog, featuring stars Yoon Kye-sang, Kim Yun-seok, and others. The series is set to make its international premiere exclusively on Netflix on August 23.
