Jill Duggar Addresses Not Being a Bridesmaid in Sister Jana’s Wedding

Former Counting On star Jill Duggar is finally addressing the question many fans have been curious about ever since her sister, Jana Duggar, tied the knot.

Jana, the oldest daughter of the well-known Duggar family, recently said “I Do” to her partner, Stephen Wissmann, in a ceremony surrounded by their loved ones on August 15. However, fans were quick to notice Jill wasn’t featured in the wedding party.

Amid speculation and questions about why she wasn’t asked to be a bridesmaid, Jill finally addressed the issue by replying to an Instagram comment earlier this week.

After sharing a video montage from the wedding to congratulate Jana, one fan asked her directly in the comments, “Why weren’t you a bridesmaid? No hate! Just genuinely curious.”

Jill, 33, candidly replied, “I don’t know, but it should always be the bride’s decision. 🩷.”

In the video Jill posted, she included a glimpse of the wedding program, which listed all the members of the wedding party.

Rather than Jill, Jana’s bridesmaids included her sisters Jinger Vuolo, 30, Joy-Anna Forsyth, 26, Johanna Duggar, 18, and Jordyn Duggar, 15, as well as their sister-in-law Abbie Duggar, who is married to their brother, John David Duggar.

Jessa Seewald, 31, took on the role of Jana’s matron of honor.

Despite not standing alongside Jana and the rest of the bridal party, Jill appeared to be genuinely happy for Jana and her new husband.

“💍 She’s married! Congrats to my sister @janamduggar and her husband @stephenwissmann on their wedding last week. 💞” she wrote in her Instagram post on Tuesday.
