‘John Wick’ Sequel TV Series Currently in Development

The John Wick franchise is set to expand its universe through a new TV series.

Lionsgate, the distributor behind the popular John Wick movies, is reportedly developing a TV series that takes place after the events of John Wick: Chapter 4. Titled Under the High Table, the show is expected to delve into the aftermath of John Wick’s departure from the underground world, featuring new characters striving to establish their own legacies while familiar faces remain loyal to the old order. The series aims to merge fresh elements with the established lore, propelling the Wick universe into a new era.

This will be the second television series inspired by the John Wick films. Previously, in 2023, Peacock released The Continental: From the World of John Wick, a prequel series set in the infamous underworld hotel from the movies. This series was set in the 1970s and focused on a younger version of the character portrayed by Ian McShane in the films.

Both Keanu Reeves and John Wick series director Chad Stahelski are on board as executive producers for Under the High Table.

As of now, there is no official confirmation regarding a fifth John Wick movie. However, fans of the franchise can look forward to two upcoming spinoff films. Ballerina, starring Ana de Armas, was announced in 2022 and is set to hit theaters in June 2025 after undergoing a series of delays and reshoots. Additionally, Lionsgate has revealed plans for a movie centered on Caine, the blind assassin played by Donnie Yen in John Wick: Chapter 4, with filming scheduled to take place in Hong Kong next year.

The question remains: is the audience deeply invested in a John Wick universe that currently appears to minimize John Wick’s direct involvement? Lionsgate undoubtedly hopes for another official John Wick chapter. Whether Stahelski and Reeves can be persuaded to return remains uncertain. Meanwhile, fans can anticipate seeing Reeves reprise his role as Wick at least one more time, as he filmed some scenes for Ballerina.
