Jon Stewart has made a striking comparison on his latest podcast, equating Joe Biden’s health issues and the secrecy surrounding them to the dishonesty prevalent during the Trump administration.

This observation is particularly damning given that one of Biden’s key advantages has been his distinct contrast to Donald Trump.

On the most recent episode of The Weekly Show with Jon Stewart, the renowned talk show host criticized the Democratic Party for shielding Biden and maintaining a culture of silence regarding his apparent health concerns.

Stewart’s guests for the episode were Tommy Vietor and Jon Favreau, former Obama staffers who had previously suggested on their own podcast, Pod Save America, that Biden should step aside.

“If we are taking an honest look at what our best chance to defend ourselves against a perceived threat,” Stewart commented, “I think we are selling ourselves short. And in a lot of ways, using, as Tommy put it, ‘omerta’ to stifle what could be an incredibly productive conversation.” He added that even if Biden came forward to discuss his situation openly, it would be preferable to the current evasiveness.

The mention of divine intervention came after Biden appeared to imply he was waiting for a sign from a higher power before considering stepping down during his interview on ABC News last week. Biden said, “If the Lord Almighty came down and said, ‘Joe, get out of the race,’ I’d get out of the race. The Lord Almighty’s not coming down.”

George Stephanopoulos, the interviewer and a former Clinton staffer, was later caught on camera expressing doubt about Biden’s ability to serve another term. “I don’t think he can serve four more years,” Stephanopoulos was heard saying.

Jon Stewart, who has been vocal about Biden’s declining health for some time, expressed disappointment at the lack of substantial response following Biden’s debate performance. “Nothing that’s been done inspires any confidence other than the fatalism of ‘It is what it is, and this is what we’re stuck with.’ That’s the part that I think has degraded people’s trust in institutions and the government from the get go, that’s a problem,” Stewart said.

The mishandling of the debate aftermath was indicative of a broader failure to prepare the public for the realities of Biden’s health, Stewart argued. He questioned the Democratic Party’s readiness and transparency regarding these issues.

“What do I do with my anger at a Democratic Party that honestly has put us in this rock and a hard place position?” Stewart asked. “They weren’t honest over this past year about what was happening internally at the White House. They were not in any way preparing the public for Kamala Harris. There was either complacency or deceit, whatever it was, but a Democratic Party that missed all of the threats that were coming their way and has left us vulnerable here.”
