Jude Law Joins Family-Friendly Adventure in Distant Galaxy

Disney+ has unveiled the trailer for “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew,” a coming-of-age series led by Jude Law, set to premiere on December 3. The storyline centers on four kids who make a mysterious discovery on their planet, leading them on an unexpected adventure across the galaxy. The young cast features Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Kyriana Kratter, Robert Timothy Smith, and Ryan Kiera Armstrong.

Law introduced the trailer during Disney’s upcoming slate presentation at the D23 Expo. Describing the series, he said it’s “a timeless adventure story in the spirit of the Amblin coming of age stories of the ’80s like ‘Goonies’ and ‘E.T.’”

The Lucasfilm series differentiates itself from other “Star Wars” projects like “The Mandalorian” and “Andor.” “Skeleton Crew” is set in the timeline following “The Return of the Jedi.”

At the 2022 Star Wars Celebration, Dave Filoni emphasized that although the show features a group of kids, it’s not exclusively for children. Filoni humorously remarked, “They like to say it’s as much for kids as ‘Clone Wars,’ and I’m like ‘Well, we cut people’s heads off in ‘Clone Wars,’ so I’m not sure if that’s the measurement you’re looking for.” He added, “Star Wars is for kids anyway, we’re all big kids; I’ve loved it since I was a kid and I’m still gonna love it when I’m much older.”

Law shared similar sentiments during this year’s Star Wars Celebration when asked about joining the “Star Wars” universe. “Wow, how to sum that up,” Law reflected. “Honestly, I was like 6 years old when this galaxy, this world gripped me, blew my mind. And I feel like I’ve been in preparation ever since, so it was a breeze! It was a total pleasure.”

“Spider-Man: Homecoming” creators Jon Watts and Chris Ford developed the series and will serve as executive producers alongside Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau.

The directors for the series include Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, the Oscar-winning filmmakers of “Everything Everywhere All at Once,” as well as David Lowery, Jake Schreier, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Lee Isaac Chung.
