WILMINGTON, Del. — Hunter Biden is set to be sentenced for felony firearms charges in December following a delay granted by the judge based on a request from his defense team.

In June, Hunter Biden was found guilty in Delaware federal court on three felony counts related to a gun purchase in 2018. Prosecutors argued that he falsified information on a federal form by claiming he was not illegally using or addicted to drugs at the time.

Initially, his sentencing was scheduled for November 13. However, the judge agreed to push the date back to December 4, as Hunter Biden’s attorneys indicated they required additional time to prepare adequately.

The firearms charges he faces could carry a maximum sentence of up to 25 years in prison. Nevertheless, experts suggest he may ultimately face significantly less prison time or possibly evade incarceration entirely.

Hunter Biden is also scheduled for sentencing in California on December 16 for federal tax charges, to which he pleaded guilty earlier this month. These tax charges could lead to a potential maximum prison sentence of 17 years, alongside possible fines amounting to $1.35 million.

President Biden, who suspended his re-election campaign in July, has stated that he will not intervene to pardon his son or alter his sentencing outcome.

After pleading guilty to tax charges, Hunter Biden expressed a desire to minimize further distress for his family, especially after his gun trial revealed troubling details about his past struggles with crack cocaine addiction. He has publicly shared that he has maintained his sobriety since 2019.

“I will not subject my family to more pain, more invasions of privacy, and needless embarrassment,” Hunter Biden remarked previously. “For all I have put them through over the years, I can spare them this, and so I have decided to plead guilty.”
