Judge postpones Hunter Biden’s gun case sentencing to December 4.

A federal judge has approved a three-week delay in Hunter Biden’s sentencing for gun charges, moving it from November 13 to December 4. This adjustment responds to a request from President Joe Biden’s son, allowing his legal team more time to compile necessary materials for his sentencing memorandum.

In their petition, Hunter Biden’s attorneys cited the upcoming presidential election set for November 5 as a significant reason for the delay.

They noted that several individuals intending to submit letters to the court as part of the sentencing process are currently engaged in government work, travel with the administration, or involved in the 2024 presidential campaign, which limits their availability.

Additionally, Biden’s lawyers indicated they may have “in-person witnesses” who are prepared to testify on his behalf. However, some of these potential witnesses may not be available until after Election Day, as they are potentially affected by events surrounding the campaign.

The delay is met with opposition from prosecutors in special counsel David Weiss’s office, who argued against rescheduling the sentencing.

Hunter Biden was found guilty in June on three felony counts tied to his purchase of a firearm in 2018 while allegedly being addicted to drugs. In a separate legal matter earlier this month, he also pleaded guilty to nine federal tax-related charges in Los Angeles, with sentencing set for December 16.
