Julianne Hough: DWTS Winner Who Shouldn’t Have Won

There have been many deserving winners in the history of Dancing with the Stars, but some victories left fans puzzled. A notable one is season 27 winner Bobby Bones, who won over Disney star Milo Manheim and Harry Potter actress Evanna Lynch, despite being the lowest-scoring dancer in the finale.

Bones’ victory is still a mystery to many fans, and it seems even some insiders of the show agree. Julianne Hough, a two-time Dancing with the Stars winner turned host, recently voiced her agreement with this sentiment.

During an August 18 episode of Watch What Happens Live, host Andy Cohen asked Hough if there had ever been a winner she disagreed with. Hough hesitated initially, but when fellow guest Mickey Guyton suggested Bobby Bones, Hough concurred.

“I actually agree with you,” Hough stated, agreeing with Guyton’s suggestion that Bones was the least deserving. “It’s about the fanbase, right? He was not the best dancer,” she added.

Hough’s candid agreement with Guyton was a refreshing moment, reflecting a sentiment many fans hold. While underdog stories are beloved, Bones was not the most talented performer that season. His fellow finalists Milo Manheim and Evanna Lynch consistently scored higher and showed significant growth throughout the season.

Fans resonate with Hough and Guyton’s views on Bones being the least deserving winner, but Bones himself seems not to share this viewpoint, especially concerning Guyton’s remarks.

“Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live had Julianne Hough on. I’ve met her a couple of times, and she’s awesome. No slander from me. But they asked her who’s the worst ever, and she was being a bit diplomatic. Then Mickey Guyton, of all people, said ‘Bobby Bones.’ And so Julianne was like ‘Yeah.’,” Bones told his followers in an Instagram video.

“I was the worst dancer; I take pride in that! I tried as hard as anybody in the history of the show, but I can’t dance now, couldn’t dance then. But you know who took down the big evil empire of dance? It’s not evil or an empire, but me and you (points to camera)! We did it together,” Bones continued.

Bones declared himself “the greatest champion ever because I’m the man of the people. I’m the man that you guys selected. But Mickey Guyton, what the —” he trailed off before dropping an expletive, showing his personal stake in Guyton’s remarks, regardless of Hough’s agreement.

Bones’ reaction to Guyton reveals his sensitivity to criticism, especially when it comes from someone within the entertainment industry. His pointed response to Guyton’s comment while seemingly brushing off Hough’s agreement adds another layer of complexity to this situation.
