Justin Hawkins Calls Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Singing His Song ‘Heartwarming’

Per Ole Hagen/Redferns

Justin Hawkins, the lead singer of The Darkness, experienced a delightful surprise when he saw Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce enjoying his hit song, “I Believe in a Thing Called Love.” The moment was shared by Hawkins during a TikTok post on September 9.

Hawkins was thrilled as fans sent him videos of Swift and Kelce dancing to his song during the US Open men’s final on September 8. He described how the couple was fully immersed in the music, with Swift singing, “I wanna kiss you every minute, every hour, every day” while glancing at Kelce, who was enjoying the beats right next to her.

“It was a really heartwarming moment for me,” Hawkins expressed. He was particularly excited to tell his daughter about it when he said, “She can’t wait to go tell her friends at school. So thanks, Taylor, thanks, Travis. Thanks to everyone who enjoys tennis. That’s a really lovely start to the day. Nice one, guys.”

The bond between Hawkins and Swift deepened after he attended her concert in Zurich, Switzerland, where he was treated with exceptional hospitality. He attended the show with his daughter and recalled the experience of being positioned between comedian Chris Rock and tennis legend Roger Federer.

Hawkins reflected on the experience, saying, “I was just Dad of the year.” The occasion became even more special when Swift sent him a heartfelt letter, which awaited him in the VIP area.

The letter expressed Swift’s admiration for Hawkins and his song, stating, “Justin, what a thrill to have you at the show! I’m a massive fan of yours and think ‘I Believe in a Thing Called Love’ is one of the greatest songs of all time. I hope you and your family have fun at the show! Thanks so much for coming!” Swift signed the note simply with “Love” alongside her signature and dated it 2024.

Hawkins shared the charming note, which was printed on stationery featuring Swift’s name prominently at the top, complemented by “Songwriter. Feline enthusiast” below, a nod to her love of cats—Meredith Grey, Olivia Benson, and Benjamin Button.

“I was just Dad of the year,” Hawkins humorously remarked about the entire experience. He added with a chuckle, “Maybe even Dad of the century. Because all of that was a big surprise.”
