Justin Theroux calls ex Jennifer Aniston ‘very dear’ and says he’s ‘protective’

Actor Justin Theroux, known for his role in “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice”, recently opened up about his feelings towards ex-wife Jennifer Aniston, revealing that he feels “protective” of her and that she remains “very dear” to him.

Theroux discussed Aniston in an interview published by The Times, specifically touching on her response to comments made by JD Vance, the Republican vice presidential candidate. Vance, the senator from Ohio, had described certain politicians, including Vice President Kamala Harris, as “childless cat ladies” in a 2021 Fox News interview. Vance’s spokesperson later claimed the comments were taken out of context.

When asked about Aniston’s response to Vance’s comments, Theroux expressed his support for her. “She is still very dear to me so of course, yeah, I feel protective. But she batted back criticism, as well she should,” he stated.

In July, Aniston took to Instagram to respond to Vance’s comments. The remarks recently resurfaced, gaining attention after former President Donald Trump selected Vance as his running mate for the 2024 presidential election. Former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton shared the clip on X, further amplifying its reach.

“I truly can’t believe this is coming from a potential VP of the United States,” Aniston expressed on her Instagram story. “All I can say is… Mr. Vance, I pray that your daughter is fortunate enough to bear children of her own one day. I hope she will not need to turn to IVF as a second option. Because you are trying to take that away from her, too,” she added.

Vance later responded to Aniston’s post. “You have Hollywood celebrities saying, ‘Oh, well, JD Vance, what if your daughter suffered fertility problems?’ Well, first of all, that’s disgusting, because my daughter is 2 years old. And second of all, if she had fertility problems, as I said in that speech, I would try everything I could to try to help her, because I believe families and babies are a good thing,” Vance said during an episode of “The Megyn Kelly Show” on SiriusXM.

Aniston has previously spoken about her own fertility struggles. In a 2022 interview with Allure, she discussed the difficulties she faced when trying to get pregnant in her late 30s and early 40s. She revealed that she underwent in vitro fertilization and tried various methods to conceive.

Theroux and Aniston, who got engaged in 2012 and married in 2015, announced their separation in 2018. Despite the split, Theroux told The Times that they remain close. “Neither one of us is dead, neither one of us is looking to throw hatchets at each other,” Theroux articulated in a 2018 interview with the New York Times, shortly after their separation was made public. “It’s amicable. It’s boring, but, you know, we respected each other enough that it was as painless as it could be.”

The couple has often been public about their mutual admiration and respect for each other. Their ongoing amicable relationship showcases how some couples can maintain a strong bond, even after separation, adding a poignant touch to their individual journeys.
