Justin Timberlake Loses License Despite DWI Not Guilty Plea

Justin Timberlake pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor driving under the influence on Friday. A Hamptons judge subsequently suspended the singer’s driver’s license in New York.

The judge, Carl Irace, made the decision following Timberlake’s refusal to take a breathalyzer test during his arrest.

Timberlake’s lawyer, Edward Burke Jr., denied the charges against the artist, who was arrested in Sag Harbor, New York, in June in an incident that quickly went viral.

“I’ll say it again: Justin Timberlake was not intoxicated and we’re very confident that the criminal charge will be dismissed,” said Burke, who received a warning from Judge Irace about making what the judge called “irresponsible” public comments.

“It comes off as an attempt to poison the case before it even begins,” Irace reportedly said regarding Burke’s statements to reporters outside the courthouse after a recent hearing.

Timberlake, who made light of the arrest during a June concert, joined the hearing virtually as he is currently on tour in Europe. He may need to appear in person for a September hearing, according to Dateline.

Burke mentioned that Timberlake will be without his driver’s license until the case concludes, which could pose logistical issues for the singer’s extensive touring schedule that spans Europe and North America through December.

Timberlake, who allegedly told the arresting officer, “This is going to ruin the tour,” has not yet postponed or canceled any of his scheduled dates.
