Justin Timberlake is reportedly very concerned about how Britney Spears might depict him in her forthcoming biopic. This anxiety comes in the wake of the “Toxic” singer, 42, revealing significant secrets about their past relationship in her memoir.

Insiders told Heat Magazine that Timberlake, 43, and his wife Jessica Biel are particularly worried about how their public image may be affected by the movie adaptation of Spears’ memoir. “There’s no question that Justin and Britney’s relationship will be covered in the movie, and he’s already freaking out about it,” said the source.

The insider further mentioned that the biopic is causing tension for the “Suit & Tie” singer and Biel. “Both Justin and Jessica have been having intense talks about what the biopic will mean for them and their family,” the source revealed.

According to Geo News, another source added, “[Timberlake and Biel] found the release of the book difficult to deal with. Now, the idea of Justin being portrayed negatively in a film is just too much for them both.”

The memoir, The Woman In Me, released in October 2023, contains some painful revelations. “There were some really awful things in the book. Both Justin and Jessica feel very sad and sensitive about this being turned into a film,” the source added.

For those who may not remember, Spears and Timberlake began dating in 1999, having met while working on the Mickey Mouse Club together. Their relationship ended in 2002, and Timberlake’s hit song “Cry Me a River” suggested an acrimonious breakup, with rumors of Spears’ infidelity circulating widely.

The insider also hinted that Timberlake might seek legal action. “[Timberlake is] definitely considering getting his lawyers involved. The book was one thing, but the movie is another. He’s worried about people believing everything they see, and his own children growing up to read and watch it all.”

Universal Pictures has acquired the film rights to Spears’ highly-praised memoir, as reported by Variety. The book quickly became a bestseller and discusses Spears’ path to fame, her tumultuous relationship with Timberlake – including a pregnancy and subsequent abortion – and her life under a restrictive 13-year conservatorship.

When the memoir was released last year, Spears announced that it had become “the highest-selling celebrity memoir in history” within its first day on the market. Jon M. Chu and Marc Platt are reportedly leading the film adaptation. Spears also teased on social media about her involvement in a “secret project” with Platt.

The pop star recently wrote, “Excited to share with my fans that I’ve been working on a secret project with #MarcPlatt. He’s always made my favorite movies… stay tuned.” Given the momentum and interest, fans are eagerly awaiting more details.
