Justin Timberlake’s License Suspended at DWI Hearing, Pleads Not Guilty

Pop star Justin Timberlake entered a plea of not guilty on Friday to a charge of driving while intoxicated. The incident took place in June in Sag Harbor, New York, where Timberlake was arrested after police observed him failing to obey a stop sign and veering off his lane.

As a result of the charge, Sag Harbor Village Justice Carl Irace has suspended Timberlake’s driving privileges in the state of New York. This ruling will remain in effect until Timberlake’s next hearing, which is scheduled for August 9.

The hearing was held virtually, as Timberlake is currently in Europe on a world tour promoting his latest album, “Everything I Thought It Was.”

During the court session, Judge Irace warned Timberlake’s lawyer, Edward Burke, regarding comments he made to the media following the previous hearing on July 26. According to NBC News, the judge suggested that Burke’s remarks seemed like an attempt to influence the case prematurely.

In July, Burke publicly stated that Timberlake was not intoxicated at the time of his arrest and asserted that the singer should not have been detained.

“The police made a number of very significant errors in this case,” Burke told the press. “We are very confident that the criminal charge will be dismissed.”

Timberlake, 43, was arrested on June 18 in the town of Sag Harbor on Long Island. He was driving a 2025 gray BMW shortly after midnight when the incident occurred.

According to court documents, when Timberlake was stopped by the police, his eyes were described as “bloodshot and glassy,” and there was reportedly a strong smell of alcohol on his breath. The documents also noted that Timberlake was unsteady on his feet and failed all standardized field sobriety tests administered by the officers.

Timberlake admitted to the officer that he had consumed one martini before driving but refused to take a breathalyzer test at the scene.

The case now awaits further hearings, and Timberlake’s legal team continues to argue for the dismissal of the charges based on alleged procedural errors made by the arresting officers.

Fans of the pop star are closely following the developments, as his legal battles unfold amidst his ongoing world tour.
