Kamala Harris Halves Trump’s Lead in Texas; Cruz in Tight Senate Race

Recent polling shows Kamala Harris has significantly narrowed Donald Trump’s lead in Texas.

A recent poll indicates that Kamala Harris has managed to significantly cut Donald Trump’s lead in Texas, a state traditionally expected to support Republican candidates in the upcoming presidential election.

According to the survey conducted by the University of Houston and Texas Southern University, Harris has reduced Trump’s lead to just under five points. The previous survey conducted from June 20 to July 1 showed Trump leading Biden by nine points.

This shift in polling mirrors trends observed at the national level, where Harris currently holds a lead of 3.3 points over Trump, based on averages from major national polls. A notable New York Times/Siena College poll also reveals Harris with a four-point advantage in key battleground states, including Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin.

Chauncey McLean, president of Future Forward USA, a prominent super political action committee supporting Harris, stated that their internal polling presents a much tighter race than public polling suggests.

“We have it tight as a tick, and pretty much across the board,” McLean commented recently.

He further elaborated on their extensive outreach, noting, “Since the vice president became the nominee, we spoke to 375,000 Americans. What you see in the public polls – you know, a large public poll is [only] 1,000 surveys.”

Senator Ted Cruz is in a closely contested race against Representative Colin Allred.

The same Texas survey also reveals that Senator Ted Cruz is in a tight race, holding just a 2.1-point lead over his challenger, Representative Colin Allred. This competitiveness mirrors findings from the earlier June-July survey, which showed a similar close contest between the two candidates.

Allred is scheduled to speak at the Democratic National Convention, aiming to drum up support in his race against Cruz, who has been the sitting senator since 2013.

The dynamics between Harris and Trump could shift again in the near future, particularly as independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is reportedly preparing to drop out of the presidential race.

Although it remains uncertain which way Kennedy’s supporters will lean—whether they will turn to Harris, Trump, or abstain from voting altogether—his endorsement could prove crucial in this tightly contested election.

Reports suggest that Kennedy is likely to endorse Trump, indicating the influence of pressure from Trump Jr. and former Fox News personality Tucker Carlson. Such an endorsement could significantly impact the voter base in swing states, adding a layer of complexity to an already close race.
