Socialite sisters Kim and Khloe Kardashian were among the global celebrities who descended on India on Friday to attend a spectacular three-day wedding celebration hosted by Asia’s richest man, Mukesh Ambani.

The spotlight is on Anant Ambani, Mukesh’s youngest son, and his fiancée, Radhika Merchant, as they prepare to exchange vows over the weekend in Mumbai. Their pre-marriage festivities have already redefined matrimonial grandeur.

Prior celebratory events included a European cruise for 1,200 guests, the construction of a bespoke Hindu temple at the Ambani family estate, and exclusive private performances by R&B icon Rihanna and Canadian pop star Justin Bieber.

Anant’s father, Mukesh Ambani, leads Reliance Industries, a conglomerate that stands as India’s largest company by market value.

Forbes lists Mukesh as the 11th wealthiest individual globally, with a net worth exceeding $113 billion. Known for his penchant for opulent family weddings, he outdid himself in 2018 for his daughter’s nuptials, an event costing around $100 million featuring a performance by Beyonce.

Mukesh Ambani is also a significant supporter of India’s right-wing Hindu nationalist Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.

Under his stewardship, Reliance Industries evolved from an industrial powerhouse in oil, gas, and petrochemicals into a diversified giant with ventures in retail, telecommunications, and an IPL cricket team.

The Ambani residence, Antilia, is one of Mumbai’s architectural marvels. The 27-floor skyscraper reportedly required over $1 billion to construct and employs a permanent staff of 600.

Radhika Merchant, the bride-to-be, hails from a lineage of renowned pharmaceutical entrepreneurs.
