Kate Beckinsale is addressing online critics while revealing the health struggles that resulted in her recent hospitalization.

In March, Beckinsale disclosed her hospital stay, and on Monday, she shared a cheeky Instagram video of herself modeling a pink, off-the-shoulder crop top and matching bikini bottom, paired with black platform boots and a hairnet tied into a bow. The “Underworld” star, 50, explained that the provocative look was aimed at critics who accuse her of not doing “age-appropriate” things.

“Let’s have a toast for the (expletive) bags. Let’s have a toast for the (expletive). Let’s have a toast for the scumbags ๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿ˜˜,” Beckinsale captioned the post.

Despite receiving numerous positive comments from fans, some social media users criticized Beckinsale for her thin appearance.

One commenter, user @k4tobin, suggested she “do some squats” because “(your butt) ran away.” Beckinsale responded with an emotional revelation about her hospitalization, explaining the toll grief has taken on her health.

“I watched my stepfather die quite shockingly, my mother has stage 4 cancer, and I lost a lot of weight from stress and grief quite quickly,” Beckinsale wrote. “And then I was in (the) hospital for six weeks because the grief had burned a hole in my esophagus, which made me vomit copious amounts of blood, and I found eating very hard.”

In January, Beckinsale announced the death of her stepfather, film and TV director Roy Battersby, on social media. The actress added that she recently completed work on a film that was “actually quite triggering because it also involved the theme of the death of my father.”

“So, I’m not really concerned about what you think about my (butt),” Beckinsale concluded. “Maybe you should worry about your own.”

In a March 11 Instagram post, Beckinsale celebrated U.K. Mother’s Day by sharing pictures and videos of her mother and dogs. She also shared photos of herself from a hospital bed, though she did not elaborate on the reasons for her hospitalization.

“Happy birthday and UK Mother’s Day this last week to my incredible mother. Thank you to those that love us and support us when it’s (expletive) and try to make sure there are some bits that aren’t,” Beckinsale wrote at the time. “And for looking after our dogs when we canโ€™t and lead us to remember happy things when we canโ€™t. And turn up when we are sick and sit with us. And send balloons and check in and pull us out of wells with love.”

One month later, Beckinsale shared photos of herself on Instagram wearing a graphic T-shirt that read “tummy troubles survivor.” The photos, which showed Beckinsale on a bed with her dog, fueled speculation that her hospitalization may have been related to a stomach issue. In the caption, she posted emojis of a flexing arm and heart.
