Kate Mansi Hints at Possible ‘Days of Our Lives’ Comeback

Kate Mansi is captivating audiences with a major storyline on General Hospital, which might secure her another Daytime Emmy. Back in 2017, she won Outstanding Supporting Actress for her portrayal of Abigail Deveraux on Days Of Our Lives. In a recent interview, she hinted at possibly returning to her previous role.

Soap fans remember Kate for her long run as Abigail Deveraux on Days Of Our Lives. She first took on the character from 2011 to 2016 before Marci Miller stepped in. Kate returned in 2018 for another stint and left again in 2020. Marci Miller resumed the role until Abigail’s tragic death in 2022.

Early in 2023, the news broke that Kate would be joining General Hospital as Kristina Davis, a role previously played by Lexi Ainsworth for nearly 15 years. The recasting decision was left unexplained by the show.

Recently, Kate was featured in Women’s World magazine, where she shared her reasons for making a return to soap operas with the role of Kristina.

She revealed that General Hospital’s executive producer Frank Valentini approached her with an enticing storyline involving endometriosis, surrogacy, and representing an LGBTQIA+ character. “I was like, ‘I’m sold. I don’t need to know anything else,’ because I knew these were stories I’d be honored to tell,” Kate explained.

Kristina has endured significant emotional turmoil on General Hospital. She recently lost the baby she was carrying as a surrogate for her sister Molly, played by Kristen Vaganos. Kristina had formed a deep bond with the baby and even planned to seek custody. Her grief was complicated by legal trouble when she was arrested for manslaughter by Jagger, portrayed by Adam J. Harrington, after the baby’s death. This was later sorted out by Sonny, played by Maurice Benard, in a recent episode.

During her interview with Women’s World, Kate disclosed how challenging her new role is, working 12-hour days with almost a hundred pages of dialogue. “Kristina’s exhausting me,” she admitted but added she loves every moment of the experience.

Still, Kate misses playing Abigail Deveraux. Over on Days Of Our Lives, the character is part of a ‘back from the dead’ storyline, although a new actress, AnnaLynne McCord, is currently depicting a woman pretending to be Abigail. Fans are speculating about the real Abigail’s return and whether Kate or Marci Miller might reprise the role. Kate mentioned she loved playing Abigail and felt there was “a lot more to play” with the character.

Despite these sentiments, it’s unlikely Kate will leave General Hospital to return to Days.
