Las Vegas Aces rookie Kate Martin has emerged as one of the standout surprises of the 2024 WNBA season. Selected with the No. 18 pick in the second round of the 2024 draft, Martin quickly secured a spot in the rotation of the defending champions.
Martin has also become a beloved figure among WNBA fans. She gained popularity during her college career with the Iowa Hawkeyes, where she played alongside Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark. While many fans follow her basketball journey, some are equally intrigued by her life off the court.
Towards the end of June, Martin posted a picture on her Instagram story featuring herself and her friend, Claire Gransee, taking a mirror selfie. The photo sparked speculation among fans about the nature of Martin and Gransee’s relationship.
On Sunday, a TikTok video featuring images of Gransee was posted. It didn’t take long for Martin to notice the video. She left a straightforward comment, which ultimately confirmed her relationship status with Gransee.
“I’m a lucky girl,” Martin commented.
“Kate, feel free to save this to your camera roll,” Gransee replied.
In 22 games this season, Martin is averaging 3.6 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in 14.3 minutes per game off the bench. During her Iowa career, Martin and Clark led the team to two consecutive national championship appearances, though they fell just short on both occasions.
