Kate Middleton’s Blonde Bob Is A Far Cry From Princess Diana

Catherine, Princess of Wales, and her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana, share many similarities. They both held the prestigious Princess of Wales title and wore the same sapphire and diamond engagement ring. Additionally, they were both married to the heir to the British throne. However, the two royals look distinctly different.

Princess Diana’s short, blonde hair became a symbol of her style, contrasting sharply with Kate’s long, flowing brunette locks. Both princesses have remained consistent with their signature hairstyles, rarely opting for drastic changes. Kate, known for her fashion sense and signature style, tends to stick to what works best for her.

But after the year she has had, perhaps a change might be considered. Recently, she replaced her engagement ring with a flashy new ring in a video appearance, hinting at possible transformations. So, could a hairstyle inspired by Diana be in the cards for Kate? Through some photo editing, an image of Kate with Diana’s iconic blonde bob was created to explore this possibility.

Editing a photo to give Kate Middleton a blonde bob revealed a significant transformation. Princess Diana famously sported her cropped blonde locks, but this style appears less fitting on Kate. The blonde color does not seem to complement Kate’s skin tone and dark eyebrows.

Moreover, the shorter cut and blonde shade give Kate an older and stuffier appearance, contrasting with the youthful, vibrant look of her long brunette hair. Also, while Diana’s haircut exuded a sense of elegance in the ’90s, it looks dated on Kate in 2024, giving off more corporate vibes.

In the ’90s, hairstyles like Diana’s bob were in vogue. Sam McKnight, the stylist behind Diana’s iconic cut, recalled that Diana had asked him what he would do with her hair if she gave him free rein. His response was to cut it all off and start anew, which led to the creation of one of the most famous hairstyles in history. McKnight noted that this style became popular as part of the “sharp, more androgynous, business chic” trends of the ’90s.

However, these trends do not resonate as well today. While adopting a new hairstyle might be interesting for Kate, imitating Diana’s hair might not be the best route.
