Kate Winslet Shares Rare Insight Into Marriage With Edward Abel Smith

Kate Winslet is known for being private about her marriage to Edward ‘Ned’ Abel Smith, but she recently shared some rare and heartwarming details about their relationship.

In an interview with The Telegraph, the Titanic star described how she quickly realized that Ned was her soulmate.

“It was very clear to me that this was the person I was supposed to follow through life. And I still feel exactly that way now,” Winslet said.

She spoke lovingly of Ned’s qualities, particularly his optimism and ambition, which made her fall for him even more.

“[Ned] looks after everybody. He’s wonderful. We literally do life together, we really do. He’s always jumped from project to project, and when I met him, he was setting up a music festival,” Winslet shared. “Ned and I, we are real-life optimists. When you live with someone who wakes up, opens the curtains, and says, ‘Hello, the world!’ you just think, yes, I am going to sign up for life.”

For those unfamiliar with their story, Winslet and Ned were first linked in 2011. They tied the knot in December 2012 in an intimate ceremony in New York. Almost exactly a year later, in December 2013, they welcomed their son, Bear.

Winslet also has two more children: a daughter named Mia Threapleton, who she shares with ex-husband Jim Threapleton, and a son named Joe, from her marriage to Sam Mendes.
