Katja Herbers Revives Campaign To Renew ‘Evil’ After Stephen King’s Praise

Katja Herbers is renewing hope that Evil will get picked up for another season on Paramount+.

The star of the supernatural series reignited the campaign to save the show after Stephen King expressed his approval on social media.

“There’s a show called Evil on Paramount+ that I like,” King said in an interview on PBS News. “It’s great. It’s funny and it’s witty and it’s very, very sharp.

Herbers shared the clip of King’s interview, adding, “Okay, can we do the pick up now? Thank you, Stephen King.”

King then quoted Herbers post, adding, “Smart, thought-provoking, occasionally VERY scary. Plus, the chemistry between the three evil-hunters is strong and…to quote Kamala…joyful.”

Co-creator Robert King, who noted he had no relation to Stephen King, said that the author “commenting on Evil” was “such an honor.”

Evil is a psychological mystery examining evil’s origins along the dividing line between science and religion. The series was co-created by Robert King and Michelle King. Herbers starred as forensic psychologist Dr. Kristen Bouchard alongside actors like Mike Colter, Aasif Mandvi, Kurt Fuller, Marti Matulis, Brooklyn Shuck, Sjylar Gray, Maddy Crocco, Dalya Knapp, Michael Emerson, Christine Lahti, and many more.

The series originally premiered in 2019 on CBS before it transitioned to Paramount+ for Season 2 in 2021.

In February of this year, Paramount+ confirmed Evil would end after four seasons and ordered four additional episodes to wrap up loose storylines.

Following the series finale, Robert King said in an interview with Deadline that “it feels like there’ll be two more seasons” of the show.

“If we’re a victim of anything, it’s a timing,” Robert King said of the end of Evil. “Obviously, since the strike, but also the Wall Street reevaluation of the business, there’s been a change in attitude on things. And obviously, as you probably know, with Paramount+ there is some reevaluation of what they’re doing and the decision was made to end the show. And I think the popularity of the show didn’t really hit until after some of those decisions were made.”
