Katy Perry Announces Dance-Pop Album ‘143’: Release Date Revealed

Katy Perry Album Announcement

After months of anticipation, Katy Perry has finally revealed her upcoming sixth studio album, titled 143, set to release this fall.

On social media Wednesday (July 10), the 39-year-old pop star shared the album’s cover art—a spacey photograph of a nearly nude Perry levitating amidst a blue and red cosmic background. She also confirmed in the caption that the album will drop on September 20, marking four years since her last project, Smile, was released in 2020.

For those curious about the album’s enigmatic title, “143” stands as code for “I love you,” a usage that dates back to the early 1900s, according to Dictionary.com.

“I set out to create a bold, exuberant, celebratory dance-pop album with the symbolic 143 numerical expression of love as a throughline message,” Perry stated.

143 will be spearheaded by the previously announced single, “Woman’s World,” which releases on July 11. The track features production from Dr. Luke, Vaughn Oliver, Aaron Joseph, and Rocco Did It Again!. Just a day prior to the album news, Perry teased the upcoming music video, showcasing high-energy vocals and sultry visuals of herself as a modernized Rosie the Riveter clad in a red, white, and blue string bikini.

According to a release, the single will resonate with much of 143‘s theme—a “sexy, fearless return to form for the multifaceted musician.”

Fans can also look forward to “empowering and provocative pop anthems” that pack “a lot of heart – and a lot of BPM.”
