Kelly Clarkson Celebrates One Year in NYC, Prepares for New Chapter

Kelly Clarkson has had a whirlwind year, relocating from Los Angeles to New York City in 2023. Now, she’s celebrating one year in the Big Apple, and her talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, is more popular than ever.

Season 6 of the award-winning show will premiere on September 23, promising exciting new segments. Some of the famous guests lined up include Kristen Bell, Jim Carey, Colin Farrell, Uma Thurman, Keith Urban, and Lily Collins. Additionally, the show will feature a stylish new lounge decor, giving the studio a fresh look.

The Kelly Clarkson Show, which premiered in 2019, has won 22 Daytime Emmy Awards, including several for Outstanding Daytime Talk Series and Outstanding Daytime Talk Series Host. Clarkson’s move to New York came after a difficult personal period, including her high-profile split from ex-husband Brandon Blackstock. Seeking a change, she asked producers if she could relocate the show.

At the 2024 Daytime Emmy Awards, where her show once again won Outstanding Talk Show, Clarkson spoke openly about needing this change. “Thanks to NBC for believing in our show,” she said. “The fact that NBC, a huge company, took time and listened when I said, ‘Hey, my life is not going super great. I don’t know if I can live here [in L.A.] anymore. I don’t know if I can do this.’

“And they really wrapped their arms around us and they helped us move. The move has been so great for not just me and my family but our whole show. It takes a lot of time and money and effort to do that.”

“It is not unnoticed. I just want to say thank you for thinking of mental health as well as, you know, a product.”

The star has settled into New York nicely, sharing how her young children are adjusting to city life in an interview backstage at Audacy’s 10th annual We Can Survive at the beginning of October.

“My son walked out of his school and was like, ‘This is the right school for me. The other one didn’t fit like this one,'” she said, speaking of how Remy embraced his new school.

With the relocation, family remains a central focus in her decisions. Situated close to 30 Rockefeller Plaza, the current location of her show, Clarkson emphasized the importance of a comfortable life for her children. “At this point, I’m 40 years old. Mama rented something nice!” she said to USA Today.

“I was like, ‘I’m not living here unless it’s right by the park and really nice for the kids,'” she added, highlighting the priority she places on her children’s well-being.

Kelly Clarkson is loving life in New York City and looks forward to the continued success of her show in this new chapter.
