Kerry Condon, Andrew Scott, Brendan Fraser Star in D-Day Film ‘Pressure’, Filming Soon

EXCLUSIVE : BAFTA winner and Oscar nominee Kerry Condon (The Banshees Of Inisherin) is joining Andrew Scott and Brendan Fraser in Working Title and Studiocanal’s upcoming D-Day movie Pressure.

Filming is set to begin in the UK next month on the captivating drama that explores the tense days leading up to the historic Normandy landings. Condon will portray Dwight D. Eisenhower’s trusted aide, Captain Kay Summersby.

The true story sees Andrew Scott, star of All of Us Strangers and Ripley, playing Britain’s Chief Meteorological Officer James Stagg, whose vital responsibility was to inform Eisenhower of weather conditions that could make or break the Normandy invasion. This complex decision-making played a crucial role in determining the fate of World War II and altering the course of history.

Summersby served as both a chauffeur and personal secretary to Army General Eisenhower, who later became the Supreme Commander of the Allies and then US President. The two developed a close relationship, with some speculating it was romantic, although most biographers and contemporaries dismiss any claims of an affair.

Anthony Maras, known for Hotel Mumbai, will direct the film, which is slated to commence shooting in the UK in September. Additional casting is currently underway, with Studiocanal managing global sales.

Olivier Award winner David Haig and Maras have co-written the screenplay, inspired by Haig’s critically acclaimed play. The narrative delves into the enormous personal and military pressures on Stagg, highlighting the escalating tensions between teams offering differing weather forecasts for the D-Day date. The film will focus on this intense decision-making process while capturing the massive scope of the Normandy landings.

The official synopsis states: “In the 72 hours leading up to D-Day, all the pieces are in place except for one key element — the British weather. Britain’s Chief Meteorological Officer James Stagg is tasked with delivering the most consequential forecast in history, facing a tense standoff with the entire Allied leadership. Incorrect conditions could lead to disaster, while any delay could risk German intelligence discovering their plans. With his trusted aide Captain Kay Summersby by his side and haunted by a catastrophic D-Day rehearsal, the final decision rests with Supreme Allied Commander Dwight D. Eisenhower. As time ticks away, the fate of the war and millions of lives hang in the balance.”

Kerry Condon, acclaimed for her role in Martin McDonagh’s The Banshees Of Inisherin and Universal’s horror film Night Swim, recently completed filming Apple’s high-budget F1 movie. She is also set to star in Disney+ and Lucasfilm’s Star Wars sci-fi series Skeleton Crew alongside Jude Law.

Condon is represented by Chris Andrews, Dar Rollins, and Celestine Au at CAA, Joe Powell at Curtis Brown, and Peg Donegan at Framework.
