Kerry Condon, Brendan Fraser, and Andrew Scott star in D-Day movie “Pressure”

Studio Canal and Working Title have announced a new film collaboration, Pressure. BAFTA winner and Oscar nominee Kerry Condon has secured her next role, starring alongside Brendan Fraser and Andrew Scott in this D-Day movie.

Filming for the Anthony Maras-directed film, previously known for Hotel Mumbai, will commence in September in the UK. The story is based on the Olivier Award-winning play by David Haig, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Maras. Haig’s play delves into the personal and military stress experienced by key members of Dwight D. Eisenhower’s team during the crucial 72 hours leading up to the Normandy invasion.

Pressure recounts the true story of the immense stress faced by British Chief Meteorological Officer James Stagg. Stagg had the critical responsibility of reporting weather conditions to Eisenhower, conditions that could drastically affect the success of the invasion.

In the film, Fraser has been cast as Eisenhower, known as Ike, the U.S. Army General and Supreme Commander of the Allies who later became the 34th President of the United States (1953-61). Eisenhower was highly regarded for his leadership during the war. Condon will portray Eisenhower’s trusted aide, Captain Kay Sumersby, who began as his chauffeur and became his personal secretary. Scott will take on the role of Meteorologist Stagg.

SKELETON CREW

Condon received critical acclaim for her role in Martin McDonagh’s The Banshees of Inisherin. Up next, she will star opposite Jude Law in Disney+ and Lucasfilm’s Star Wars sci-fi series Skeleton Crew. She has also been cast in F1, the Formula One racing drama directed by Joseph Kosinski (Top Gun: Maverick). This film’s all-star cast includes Condon, Brad Pitt, Damson Idris, Tobias Menzies, Javier Bardem, and Sarah Niles, and is set for a theatrical release in June 2025.
