Kevin Bacon, well-known for his roles in iconic films like Friday the 13th and Footloose, found himself yearning to remember what it felt like to be an ordinary person. To satisfy this curiosity, he enlisted the help of a makeup artist to disguise him for a day. The result? A renewed appreciation for his celebrity status.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, released on July 3rd, Kevin detailed his unique social experiment. He asked a special effects makeup artist to craft a “prosthetic disguise” for him, complete with fake teeth, a new nose, and glasses. Under this elaborate guise, he roamed around Los Angeles incognito.

“Nobody recognized me!” he revealed to the publication, clearly impressed by the artist’s skill and the effectiveness of the disguise.

Normally, Kevin’s best attempt at going unnoticed involved just a hat and glasses, which only worked “to a certain extent.” Despite these efforts, he remained somewhat recognizable as an A-list star. However, the prosthetic disguise proved to be foolproof, rendering him completely anonymous.

Experiencing life as an average Joe was an eye-opener for Kevin. He humorously recounted how the experience quickly made him miss the perks of fame. As he mingled with the crowd, he noticed the stark difference in how he was treated.

“People were kind of pushing past me,” he shared, noting a lack of the usual adoration. “Nobody said, ‘I love you.’”

He also joked about a particularly humbling moment in a coffee shop. Forced to wait in line like everyone else, he found himself thinking, “This sucks. I want to go back to being famous.”

Through this amusing and candid revelation, Kevin concluded that the drawbacks of fame are far outweighed by its benefits. His brief venture into normalcy made him appreciate his celebrity status even more.
