Kevin Hart Expresses Regret Over Netflix Roast of Tom Brady

Comedian Kevin Hart recently shared his thoughts on how the Netflix roast went for NFL legend Tom Brady. Following the event, Brady expressed some regrets about his participation. Hart believes he can understand why Brady made such remarks but isn’t entirely convinced the quarterback regrets the whole experience.

“I think what he is referring to is saying, ‘I could have tapered it a little differently,’ suggesting or even having a conversation beforehand to set boundaries,” Hart said during an interview with TNT’s Taylor Rooks. This exchange was later posted as a clip on Instagram.

Hart was the host of the roast, which garnered impressive ratings for Netflix. Brady became the center of some playful jabs from several NFL and entertainment figures, including Bill Belichick and Drew Bledsoe. Despite Brady’s later misgivings, Hart feels that Brady was generally comfortable with most of what took place during the event.

Tom Brady will be remembered as one of the greatest NFL quarterbacks of all time. He led the New England Patriots to six Super Bowl championships and later clinched another with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Brady’s achievements include numerous league records, such as the most wins by a quarterback. Famously drafted late in the 2000 NFL Draft by the Patriots, Brady’s journey has been well-documented in films and media coverage.

After an extensive career, Brady is forging a new path as an actor and celebrity. He features in various commercials for companies like Hertz rental cars and BetMGM. Additionally, he is set to debut as a broadcaster for Fox during the 2024 NFL season, where he will provide color commentary, backed by a lucrative contract.

Despite the roast’s high ratings, Brady later admitted that he didn’t feel great about the evening. His discomfort stemmed primarily from the impact the event had on his children. “I liked when the jokes were about me. I thought they were so fun. I didn’t like the way they affected my kids,” Brady said on The Pivot Podcast, as reported by The Cut. “It’s the hardest part about … it’s the bittersweet aspect of doing something you think is one way, then realizing you wouldn’t do that again because of how it actually affected the people I care about most in the world.”

It’s possible that over time, Brady might reconsider his feelings about the roast. The evening had numerous memorable moments, such as the parody involving Belichick, Brady, and Bledsoe, which humorously mirrored their time together in New England. Belichick teased Bledsoe, saying that he had to step aside for the Netflix event so Brady could be the evening’s star. This echoed real-life events where Brady, initially a backup to Bledsoe, took over the starting quarterback role following Bledsoe’s injury and never looked back.
