Peacock has unveiled the first trailer for its highly anticipated limited series, “Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist.”

Kevin Hart headlines the ensemble cast, featuring prominent stars such as Samuel L. Jackson, Taraji P. Henson, Don Cheadle, and Terrence Howard. Additional guest appearances include Chloe Bailey, Marsha Stephanie Blake, Dexter Darden, Lori Harvey, and Sinqua Walls.

“Fight Night” adapts the iHeart true-crime podcast of the same name. Set in Atlanta in 1970, it centers on the events surrounding Muhammad Ali’s comeback fight against Jerry Quarry.

The plot follows a hustler named Chicken Man, played by Hart, who hosts an afterparty celebrating the fight, drawing some of the nation’s wealthiest individuals to his guest list. The festivities take a dark turn, concluding with one of the most daring criminal underworld heists in Atlanta’s history. Tensions rise as Chicken Man becomes the prime suspect and is determined to clear his name.

In his quest for exoneration, Chicken Man must win over his old adversary J.D. Hudson, portrayed by Cheadle. Hudson, one of the first Black detectives on the city’s desegregated police force, is on a mission to ensure justice is served.

The series is set to premiere on Peacock on September 5. Shaye Ogbonna, the series’ creator, will also serve as showrunner alongside Jason Horwitch. Kevin Hart is among the executive producers, along with Bryan Smiley and Mike Stein for Hartbeat, Will Packer and Sabrina Wind for Will Packer Media, and Conal Byrne and Carrie Lieberman for iHeartPodcasts.

Other executive producers include Jeff Keating for Doghouse Pictures, Lars Jacobson, Erika L. Johnson, and Mike Daniels. Craig Brewer, who directed four episodes, adds to the project’s executive production team. Tiffany Brown and Kenny Burns from Hartbeat join as co-executive producers. Universal Television (UTV) serves as the production studio.
