Kim Zolciak Admits Feeling Unsafe with Husband on ‘Surreal Life’

Kim Zolciak is opening up with candid emotions about her turbulent divorce from former NFL player Kroy Biermann. Known for her role in “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” Zolciak is a participant in the new season of “Surreal Life: Villa of Secrets,” which also features personalities like Josie Canseco, O.T. Genasis, Tyler Posey, Johnny Weir, Chet Hanks, Macy Gray, and Ally Brooke. In the first episode, Zolciak partakes in a therapeutic exercise centered on release and self-discovery.

“As I’m breathing, I’m just crying and crying and crying, and I need this. I really do,” Zolciak reveals during a confessional. She openly describes herself as a “basket case” to her fellow cast members after the session concludes.

When asked if she managed to let go, Zolciak comes to a striking realization. “I protect everybody else. And I don’t feel like anybody’s really protecting me, from my parents to my husband,” she explains to the group. Her own tears catch her off guard. “I don’t know how to let go and then especially be that vulnerable in front of seven, I say strangers, but I feel safer with them than I do if I was to do that with Kroy,” she says during another confessional. “That’s sad.”

Expressing her surprise, she shares with her co-stars, “The fact that I can let go here and feel safe here, not even at home, is just crazy.” Reflecting on her long-time role as a mother, she adds, “You know, I’ve been a mom since 18, so you gotta stay strong.”

Zolciak’s husband, from whom she is now estranged, filed for divorce last year after 11 years of marriage. Rumors of their marital discord and financial troubles have been circulating for a long time, though Zolciak always insisted that everything was fine. Since their separation, the police have been called to the mansion they still share numerous times. Bodycam footage has captured a tearful Zolciak lamenting about Biermann’s volatile behavior. In the videos, Biermann can be seen yelling and screaming, appearing deeply distressed as he complains about their financial struggles and accuses Zolciak of infidelity.
