Please join us in wishing Kin Shriner a very happy anniversary! He made his debut as Scott Baldwin on General Hospital back on Aug. 2, 1977, marking 47 years since his daytime debut! The soap hopper also played roles on several other notable daytime dramas, including Jeb Hampton on Texas, Mike Gallagher on Rituals, Dr. Brian Carey on The Bold & The Beautiful, Harrison Bartlett and Jeffrey Bardwell on The Young & The Restless, and Keith Morrissey on As the World Turns. He even reprised his role as Scott on General Hospital’s spinoff, Port Charles. Quite a remarkable career!

To commemorate the occasion, Shriner created a short video that he shared on social media. With the help of GH co-star Steve Burton (Jason) behind the camera and edited by Kelly McCue, the video starts with Shriner knocking on his own dressing room door at the studio. Upon entering, he humorously consults Scott Baldwin about getting some legal representation, only to find out how expensive those services can be!

After a quick Twilight Zone-style transition, the video switches to Shriner addressing his fans directly. “As I hit this 47-year anniversary, I’d like to thank all of you General Hospital fans and soap fans that followed me on the other soaps that I did,” Shriner said. “I really appreciate you letting me spill into your living rooms. It means a lot to me, and I thank you for your loyalty. So as they say in the soap business, stay tuned! More to come. Thank you.”

Leading up to this milestone, Shriner also shared a montage video set to Kiss’s “I Was Made for Lovin’ You,” featuring some nostalgic photos of his character Scott Baldwin with his major love interests on General Hospital. The video showcases poignant moments with Genie Francis’s Laura, Jacklyn Zeman’s Bobbie, Robin Mattson’s Heather, Shell Danielson’s Dominique, and Lynn Herring’s Lucy.

Despite multiple exits and returns to General Hospital over the years to pursue other projects, including additional soap operas, films, and TV series, Shriner has always returned to Port Charles. Whenever the residents of this fictional town need a slightly dubious lawyer willing to bend the rules, Scott Baldwin is their man!

Shriner’s enduring appeal and talent have made him a staple on daytime television, and his fans are continually eager for more. As those who have followed his career would attest, his portrayal of Scott Baldwin remains one of the most memorable characters in soap opera history.
