King Charles May Strip Harry & Meghan of Royal Focus, Reportedly

King Charles III and Queen consort Camilla are hosting a royal family gathering at Balmoral Castle in Scotland throughout August. Members like William, Prince of Wales, Catherine, Princess of Wales, and Princess Anne are reportedly in attendance.

The summer retreat allows the Royal Family to reconnect after several tragedies in 2024. However, it’s also an opportunity to discuss the future of the monarchy. A future that may not include Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

The Balmoral retreat marks another instance where Harry and Meghan were left out by the Royal Family. A source reports that King Charles III is ready to focus on a future that doesn’t spotlight the estranged couple. “The strategy now is to move away from focusing on what the Sussexes are doing and place an emphasis on the next generation of royals,” the insider told The Express. “There is very much a feeling of not dwelling on the past but moving forward with the assets they’ve got which are the younger members of the Royal Family.”

Signs suggest that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle might be planning a major comeback. However, King Charles III is reportedly preparing to leave the Sussexes in the past altogether. According to Express, the monarch wants to shift focus to the direct line of succession, which includes Prince William and his children. He is also considering royal family roles for figures like Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie, and Lady Louise Windsor.

“The future of the Royal Family doesn’t just hinge on the Wales family,” a source told the outlet. “But also on other members of the Royal Family that hold a visible profile in this country and around the world.” For Harry and Meghan, being left out of the limelight could include stripping them of their titles.

Harry and Meghan’s HRH designations were already revoked in 2020. Buckingham Palace released a public statement following the duo’s step back from royal duties. Their HRH titles were gifted by the late Queen Elizabeth II on their wedding day, but their peerage titles are more significant. “Harry’s Dukedom, Earldom and Barony will have to be removed by an Act of Parliament,” the source said. “Which could throw up a lot of unnecessary problems and unwanted media attention.”
