Kit Harington Shares Humbling Encounter with a ‘Fan’

Actor Kit Harington shared an amusing story about an awkward encounter with someone he mistakenly thought was a Game of Thrones fan. Harington, who collaborated with Zynga for the launch of the new mobile game Game of Thrones: Legends, disclosed his most embarrassing fan encounter in a behind-the-scenes video. The incident occurred during a night out in London with friends, as reported by Page Six. Harington’s friends “absolutely ripped” him for the confusion.

“Sometimes someone comes up to you in the center of town, usually a tourist, and they’re like, ‘Could you take a photo?,’ and you’re like, ‘Yeah, sure!'” Harington recounted in the clip. “You go and you put your arm around them and they’re like, ‘No, no, no, of me and Big Ben.'” His friends mocked him mercilessly for this mistake, and it was “excruciatingly embarrassing.” However, he admitted that such occurrences have become relatively common for him.

These days, Harington said similar situations “happen quite often,” jokingly referring to it as the “opposite of a fan interaction.” Despite these awkward moments, Harington remains one of the most recognizable faces from HBO’s hit series Game of Thrones. Notably, he also tried to spearhead a sequel series titled SNOW, although it is no longer in development. Nevertheless, Harington deeply values his connection with the franchise.

“I love that the Thrones world is still continuing five years after I wrapped my part of it,” he said in the video. “Frankly, it’s great to be associated with.” Harington played a starring role in an ad for Game of Thrones: Legends, where he can be seen playing the game with fans at a bar and performing quite well. Despite his enthusiasm for the franchise and his involvement in promoting the mobile game, Harington recently told The Associated Press that he “just can’t watch” the spinoff series House of the Dragon.

“I think, for me, it’s just I’ve spent too long there,” he explained. “And I wish them all the best. I hear it’s wonderful and going really well. But I don’t think I’ll ever watch that show, and I don’t think I’ll watch Game of Thrones again for a few years.”

House of the Dragon Season 2 recently wrapped up and is available for streaming on Max along with the original Game of Thrones series. Season 3 of House of the Dragon is currently in pre-production. The world of Westeros, however, will make a return to screens in 2025 with a new spinoff series titled A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight. Meanwhile, Game of Thrones: Legends is now available for download on iOS and Android devices.
