Lady Gaga & Bruno Mars’ ‘Die With a Smile’ Tops Billboard Global Charts

Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars’ song “Die With a Smile” rises to No. 1 on both the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts. The song debuted at the runner-up spot on each list just a week earlier.

Meanwhile, Sabrina Carpenter launches to No. 2 on the Global 200 and No. 3 on Global Excl. U.S. with her song “Taste.” Chappell Roan’s “Good Luck, Babe!” reaches the Global Excl. U.S. top 10, rising from 11 to 9, while also ranking No. 8 on the Global 200.

The Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. charts, initiated in September 2020, rank songs based on streaming and sales activity from over 200 territories worldwide, as compiled by Luminate. The Global 200 includes worldwide data, while the Global Excl. U.S. chart focuses on data from territories excluding the United States.

Chart rankings are derived from a weighted formula that incorporates official-only streams from both subscription and ad-supported tiers of audio and video music services. Download sales are also included, excluding sales from direct-to-consumer sites.

“Die With a Smile” achieved No. 1 on the Global 200 with 97.2 million streams (up 29%) and 12,000 sold (down 62%) globally from Aug. 23-29. The ballad, released on Aug. 16, becomes the first No. 1 for both Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars on the Global 200 since the chart’s inception.

Sabrina Carpenter’s “Taste” debuts at No. 2 on the Global 200 with 102 million streams and 8,000 sold worldwide. Carpenter adds her third top 10 to the chart with “Espresso” holding at No. 3, following three nonconsecutive weeks at No. 1 beginning in June, and “Please Please Please” climbing from 6-4 after two weeks at No. 1 also starting in June. All three songs are from her new album, Short n’ Sweet, which debuted at No. 1 on the U.S.-based Billboard 200.

Billie Eilish’s “Birds of a Feather” drops to No. 5 on the Global 200 after three weeks at No. 1.

“Die With a Smile” concurrently leads Global Excl. U.S. with 67 million streams (up 39%) and 6,000 sold (down 54%) outside the U.S. from Aug. 23-29. This marks Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars’ first No. 1 each since the survey began.

Eilish’s “Birds of a Feather” descends to No. 2 after three weeks at the top of Global Excl. U.S.

Carpenter’s “Espresso” rebounds from 4-3 on Global Excl. U.S., following eight nonconsecutive weeks at No. 1 starting in May. Her “Taste” debuts at No. 4 with 60.2 million streams and 3,000 sold outside the U.S, becoming her third top 10. Meanwhile, “Please Please Please” ascends from 7-5, following a week at No. 1 in June.

Additionally, in the Global Excl. U.S. top 10, Chappell Roan’s “Good Luck, Babe!” climbs from 11-9 with 32.1 million streams (up 6%). On the Global 200, where the song ranks at No. 8 after peaking at No. 7, it becomes her first Global Excl. U.S. top 10.

The Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts, dated Sept. 7, 2024, will update on Billboard.com tomorrow, Sept. 4, delayed by a day due to the Labor Day holiday on Sept. 2.
