Lady Gaga Surprises French Fans with Snippets of Two New LG7 Songs on Street

Surely you didn’t think Lady Gaga would fly all the way over to Paris for just one Summer Olympics performance? After the singer lit up the Sienne on Friday night, wowing the rain-drenched crowd along the riverbanks and all those watching from the comfort of their homes worldwide, she had more in store for her Parisian fans. Mother Monster thanked her devoted followers later in the weekend with a sneak preview of two songs intended for her upcoming seventh studio album.

In an Instagram Story on Sunday, Gaga teased the first listen of her follow-up to 2020’s Chromatica. “I’m so deeply touched by my French fans this week outside the hotel,” she wrote, before coming outside to play the new music. “I’m gonna come out and say goodbye tonight with a few seconds of #LG7.”

True to her word, Gaga queued up the music as camera flashes lit up the night. She pumped her fist while playing songs on a laptop from the sunroof of a limo. The two tracks featured thumping beats and bass-heavy keyboards, but the lyrics were hard to decipher amidst the shouting of her excited French fans. However, at one point, it seemed like Gaga mouthed the words, “I’ve become what was holding me.”

The as-yet-untitled album will be Gaga’s first new studio album since Chromatica, with no release date announced yet.

This streetside surprise came after Gaga spent time enjoying swimming and gymnastics events following her Parisian cabaret-style performance ahead of the official Summer Games kick-off. Gaga delighted the audience by singing the French-language “Mon Truc en Plume” (“My Thing With Feathers”). The highly choreographed routine featured her flitting up and down a grand staircase, surrounded by dancers carrying large pink pom-poms.

Gaga also seemed to drop some personal news over the weekend when she referred to longtime boyfriend Michael Polansky as “my fiancé” while being introduced to French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal.
