Lainey Wilson Coy About Whether New Music Will Feature on ‘Yellowstone’

I’m quite certain that one, if not more than one, of Lainey Wilson’s new songs will be featured on the Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 soundtrack. Slated to air on November 10th, which was previously confirmed by Paramount to be the final installment of the flagship series (though there might be other plans in the works), Lainey will return as her character Abby for at least this season, and she’s apparently filming a scene in the historic Fort Worth Stockyards.

Now obviously, that pretty much means that she’s performing an original song, but in an interview with radio host Ashley Morrison on iHeart Country/US 103.5 this week, Lainey explained that they haven’t started filming her parts yet, nor has she even seen a script, so she can’t confirm anything yet:

“Yes, we actually haven’t filmed just yet, but hopefully we will be filming here soon. And I don’t have the script or anything just yet, but I’m down to keep acting. I mean, it’s another way for me to be creative and it’s fun.”

Lainey also joked that she “pitched the whole” Whirlwind record she just released to producers for consideration, and I can’t imagine a world in which at least one or two of those songs don’t make the cut… I mean, Lainey literally plays a musician named Abby:

“You know, I pitched the whole record, just hoping they would put all of them in there, so we’ll see what happens. No, I think it kind just depends on, you know, what they’re wanting the character to say. And me and Abby, the character, we really do have a lot on in common so it’ll be interesting to see which ones they choose.”

Personally, I think songs like “Call A Cowboy” or even the title track “Whirlwind” would be perfect, especially if we get to see her on-screen romance with ranch worker Ryan evolve (played by Ian Bohen), and I really hope we do, for obvious reasons…

Yesterday, Yellowstone released a new teaser that almost seemed like they were hinting at a Kevin Costner return, so maybe (hopefully) we’ll get to see him in the series finale after all, too:
