Lala Kent Shares Update on Friendship with Katie Maloney

I had a really fun time with Ariana [Madix] when I first was on the show. Katie, my friendship with her [during] season 10, I thought that that friendship was really on point. When I think back, I’m like, ‘Wow, even though it was a hard time in my life, that friendship really got me through a tough time in my life.’”

However, the dynamic between Lala and Katie has evidently shifted. Lala reminisced about the enjoyable moments they spent together, which now seem like a distant memory. One main reason for the drift is that their lives have taken different paths. Lala, who is now a mother to her daughter Ocean and expecting another child, finds herself in a very different place compared to Katie, who is single and freshly divorced.

Lala seems at peace with the changed circumstances, stating, “I think that that’s totally OK. I have nothing but fond memories of that friendship. I have nothing but fond memories of the friendship I had with Ariana and Doute. But people change and move on.”

In contrast, Katie appears more affected by the dissolution of their friendship. Previously, Katie expressed her disappointment and hinted at issues of trust on her part. She remarked, “Once you violate my trust like that, it’s very hard to come back from. Trust is the most important thing to me. And when you try to manipulate me with that and use it against me and say we talked about these things. Those weren’t the kind of conversations that were meant for the camera. Not everything is. … I’m allowed to have some kind of privacy and talk about emotions with people. I do with my mom, I do with other friends.”

Katie’s sentiments suggest that the trust issues between them are significant and contribute to the strain. It underscores how sensitive personal boundaries can be, especially under the public scrutiny of reality television.
