Lando Gives Simone the Cold Shoulder

The Bringston Lions are back in session! This week, All American: Homecoming Season 3 released episode two, bringing forward a mix of excitement, drama, and what it truly feels like to be in college. The episode dives deep into the Bringston family’s experience as they tackle the challenges of the first week of classes. Key themes like relationship hurdles, living with friends, and choosing academic paths are explored.

Team Lando fans were thrilled this week as he finally made his season debut. Gone are his days on the baseball field. Now, Lando, played by the captivating Martin Bobb-Semple, is fully immersed in his photography and KEK fraternity. However, the most surprising twist comes with his new love interest, Eva, who happens to be Simone’s PKZ little sister. Awkward much?

Simone and Lando hadn’t spoken since Simone chose Damon, so it was a shock for her to see Lando with Eva. Driven by her own desires, Simone disregarded Lando’s feelings and attempted to rekindle their friendship. Lando, understandably, resisted her efforts. Simone’s self-centered actions led her to force Lando into spending time with her using sorority and fraternity business as leverage.

When Lando eventually confronted Simone about her decision to choose Damon over him, her response was unclear. She talked about history and obligation, but it was evident that Lando had always been a better fit for her. Through a voter registration drive, they began to mend their friendship. Although Lando eventually explained that he couldn’t be friends with Simone because of his lingering feelings, there’s still hope for their reconciliation as the season progresses.

Living with friends turned out to be more challenging than expected for Simone, Keisha, and Nate. They managed to create friction over household responsibilities. Simone’s habit of not washing dishes before using the dishwasher annoyed Nate and Keisha, while Keisha’s habit of leaving her shoes around annoyed Nate. The biggest problem, however, was Keisha’s boyfriend, Cam, staying over unannounced.

Nate’s natural leadership led her to take on a motherly role, causing tension among the trio. Misunderstandings and lack of communication escalated to a point where they stopped talking to each other. Thankfully, JR helped them resolve their issues. Living together isn’t always smooth sailing, even for the closest friends, but let’s hope this was their biggest hiccup.

JR’s troubles seem unending this season. From battling aplastic anemia to being kicked out of KEK and breaking up with his girlfriend, Gabby, he’s had it rough. His character, portrayed by the excellent Sylvester Powell, gained sympathy as he faced each hurdle. Despite his setbacks with the fraternity, JR focused on reviving the baseball team. He leaned on his bond with Keisha more than anyone else, especially after conflicts with Gabby over his condition.

Gabby’s caring nature clashed with JR’s need for normalcy. When Cam inadvertently revealed JR’s plans to Gabby, it sparked a heated argument. Gabby couldn’t support JR’s ambitions due to the risks, leading to their breakup. This turn of events raises speculation about JR and Keisha possibly growing closer in the future.

The episode also highlighted the importance of voting. Simone took charge of a voter registration drive, emphasizing the need for young people, especially college students, to vote. This storyline resonated deeply, considering the historical struggles for Black people to gain the right to vote. The narrative underscored the necessity of exercising this hard-earned right.

In the end, working the voter drive inspired Simone beyond politics. She chose a major aligning with her goals and planned to restore order in the athletic department. Despite the challenges she faces, Simone’s determination to make significant changes remained strong.

The preview for next week’s episode hints at more drama with Dr. P’s return and campus tension due to a student attack. As the season progresses, expect more packed storylines and intense moments. Though the show’s end means certain plots might feel rushed, there’s still time for a strong, fulfilling conclusion.

Season 3 of All American: Homecoming airs on The CW on Mondays at 8 p.m. EST.
