Aug. 19 (UPI) — Netflix has unveiled a teaser for their animated series “Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft,” with a scheduled premiere date of Oct. 10 on the streaming platform.

The anime-style series, helmed by Tasha Huo, brings to life the iconic character from the popular video games. The teaser includes a shot of Lara examining her bloody hands, hinting at intense, action-packed sequences. Although the origins of her injuries are not detailed, scenes of her swinging from ropes over lava pits and battling adversaries suggest a thrilling adventure awaits.

Lara Croft made her debut in a 1996 video game, quickly becoming a sensation across various gaming systems. The game’s innovative mechanics allowed Lara to scale the walls of 3D environments, setting a new standard in gaming.

The character’s popularity extended beyond video games. Lara was portrayed by Angelina Jolie in two films released in 2001 and 2003, and later by Alicia Vikander in a 2018 adaptation.

The new series “The Legend of Lara Croft” features voice performances by Hayley Atwell, Allen Maldonado, and Earl Baylon. Powerhouse Animation, known for their expertise, is responsible for bringing the animated world of Lara Croft to life.
