Lara Trump Pursues Musical Stardom with Tribute Song for Firefighters

Lara Trump, co-chair of the Republican National Committee, released a new music video for another original song The Right View with Lara Trump / YouTube

Lara Trump, daughter-in-law of Donald Trump and Republican National Committee co-chair, is making waves with her latest music video, a heartfelt tribute to firefighters.

The song, titled “Hero,” first made its debut in May. However, Trump and co-singer Madeline Jaymes only recently released its accompanying music video late last month. The visuals feature moody shots of Trump and Jaymes performing in a music studio, as well as scenes on a fire escape. The video includes a montage of real-life firefighters and staged footage of rescue missions. When this video was filmed remains unclear, although the earliest preview was posted in July.

The duo’s tribute to firefighters includes the lyrics, “You’re going through the fire, and the flames getting higher. You’re my hero. You’re my hero.” Another line follows, “You’re climbing up the ladder and the screams getting louder. You’re my hero. You’re my hero.” These emotional lyrics are delivered with the aid of heavy autotune.

Despite the sentiment behind the song, some social media users were critical of Trump’s vocal performance. YouTube comments were less than flattering, with one person stating, “Someone who cares about Lara needs to be honest and tell her she can’t sing.” Another comment read, “After hearing this, I miss Yoko Ono.”

On Instagram, a user described Trump as “the rich adult version” of “kids who got participation trophies.” Another critique came from X, with a user joking, “Guys, I’m starting to think Lara Trump has a ‘music career’ only because her last name is Trump.”

Trump, who is married to Eric Trump, ventured into the music scene nearly a year ago with her rendition of Tom Petty’s “I Won’t Back Down.” Since then, she has released two original songs, “Hero” and “Anything is Possible.”

Between her musical endeavors, Trump has remained active in her political career. Earlier this year, she was appointed co-chair of the RNC alongside former North Carolina Republican Party chair Michael Whatley. This role came following a strong endorsement from her father-in-law, the Republican Party’s nominee for president.

During her acceptance speech at the RNC, Trump vowed to “work hard” to secure her father-in-law’s re-election. She also promised to allocate “every single penny” towards getting him back into the White House.

For the first half of the year, polls indicated that former President Trump had a lead over President Joe Biden in most swing states. However, the race has tightened significantly since Vice President Kamala Harris replaced Biden on the Democratic ticket, making the upcoming election closer than ever.
