LaTavia Roberson of Destiny’s Child Joins Sigma Gamma Rho as Honorary Member

Over the weekend, at the 60th International Biennial Boule in Houston, Texas, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. proudly inducted R&B singer and former Destiny’s Child member LaTavia Roberson as an honorary member of the sorority.

LaTavia Roberson, who first gained fame as a member of the Grammy Award-winning group Destiny’s Child, joined a group of distinguished women who were also honored by the sorority. Alongside her, Krystal Harris, Ta’Rhonda Jones, Bianca Knight, Sharon Moody, Kim Roxie, April Showers, Kera Wright, Bettina Benson, Rebekah Borucki, Jackie Chambers de Freitas, Kelley Gay, and Dwan Martin were inducted as honorary members.

Roberson achieved fame and success with Destiny’s Child, one of the most successful girl groups of all time. The group sold over 25 million records globally, with Roberson contributing writing and vocal skills to their first two albums, “Destiny’s Child” and “The Writing’s on the Wall.”

Beyond her music career, Roberson has made significant strides in philanthropy and business. She founded the nonprofit Le Papillon Foundation, which aims to promote personal and communal transformation. The name, meaning “butterfly” in French, reflects her vision of inspiring metamorphosis in others.

In addition to her charitable work, Roberson is an entrepreneur with plans for the Seductress lingerie brand and the Queens Kollection cosmetics line. She is also working on a documentary that will detail her journey, showcasing her determination and resilience.

Sigma Gamma Rho’s mission of celebrating and empowering influential women was evident in this year’s selection of honorary members. Each honoree was recognized for their exceptional achievements across various fields.

During the weekend, the new honorary members took part in a community service initiative at the Houston Food Bank. Demonstrating their commitment to Sigma Gamma Rho’s goal of “Amplifying Greater” through service, they collectively pledged to raise $25,000 to further support the sorority’s mission.
