Latvia Submits Award-Winning ‘Flow’ to Annecy Film Festival

Latvia has chosen Gints Zilbalodis’ animated feature “Flow” as its entry for the best international feature category at the 97th Academy Awards. The film had its world premiere in the Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes Film Festival and has already garnered critical acclaim, winning four prizes at Annecy.

Sideshow and Janus Films secured the North American rights to “Flow” following its debut at Cannes and are planning to release it theatrically later this year.

Latvia’s selection of the film was made by the Latvian Selection Committee, a group of film industry experts organized by the National Film Center.

The script for “Flow” was co-written by Gints Zilbalodis and Matiss Kaza. The score for the animated feature was composed by Zilbalodis in collaboration with Rihards Zalupe. Producing credits go to Zilbalodis, Kaza, Ron Dyens, and Gregory Zalcman.

The 97th Oscars are scheduled to take place on March 2, 2025.
