League of Women Voters NKY to Host Book Signing Saturday at Roebling Books

The League of Women Voters of Northern Kentucky is set to host a book signing event on Saturday, July 13, 2024, starting at 2 p.m. The event will take place at Roebling Books, located at 601 Overton in Newport.

Josh Douglas, the author of “The Court v. The Voters: The Troubling Story Of How The Supreme Court Has Undermined Voting Rights,” will be present to discuss his new book and sign copies for attendees.

Douglas is the Ashland-Spears Inc. Distinguished Research Professor of Law at the University of Kentucky’s law school. He specializes in teaching and researching election law, voting rights, civil procedure, constitutional law, and judicial decision-making.

Beyond his latest work, Douglas is also known for his 2019 book, “Vote for US: How to Take Back Our Elections and Change the Future of Voting.” This earlier endeavor explores various positive trends aimed at expanding the right to vote for all Americans. Recently, Douglas contributed his expertise as a Fulbright Specialist for the Fulbright Program in Italy. His insights have been featured in prominent media outlets such as the New York Times, CNN, Slate, and Reuters.

His current research mainly delves into the constitutional right to vote. In particular, it focuses on how state constitutions safeguard this right and examines the myriad laws, procedures, and judicial decisions that affect elections.

The event will be free and open to the public, providing an excellent opportunity for community members to engage with an expert in election law and voting rights.
