‘Live’ Fans Petition for ‘Live Rescue’ Reboot

On Patrol: Live fans are pushing for the reboot of the popular, now-cancelled series, Live Rescue. Even though the show has been off the air for over three years, it remains deeply missed by its audience. So, could the enthusiasm of enough fans potentially bring it back? Let’s delve into the details.

When Live PD ceased airing in 2020 due to the tumultuous state of policing, viewers were disappointed. The show captured the thrilling and sometimes dangerous situations officers face daily. Despite the challenges of 2020, which forced production to halt, the show returned in 2022, rebranded as On Patrol: Live, and moved from A&E to Reelz. Though it may not match the excitement of its predecessor, audiences remain engaged every Friday and Saturday night.

During this time, other true crime series have left a void for fans, notably Live Rescue. This show, which focused on first responders like firefighters, paramedics, and EMTs, was taken off the air in January 2021 after three successful seasons. Created by the same team behind Live PD, its absence has been felt deeply by its audience. With On Patrol: Live finding a new home, fans are now wondering if Live Rescue could be revived as well. A Reddit thread emerged to discuss this possibility:

  • Hey there, guys! Just wanted to jump on here today and ask if you guys think there should be a revival of “Live Rescue.” Only difference would be–it would be on REELZ, not A&E. Thanks! 😁👍🏻

So, what did fans think of this proposal? Could Live Rescue find a home alongside On Patrol: Live on Reelz?

  • I liked the Live Rescue shows and would love to see them again.
  • I loved watching it. I’m for bringing it back.
  • Yes. I NEED to see more elevator rescues.
  • I think instead of a totally separate show they should somehow incorporate it into the current show

However, there are reasons why this might be challenging. One significant obstacle could be HIPAA laws, which protect patient privacy. One fan mentioned this as a potential issue:

  • I think HIPAA laws are what shut down Live Rescue. I work in large event security and we strongly discourage patrons from filming others at the worst time of their lives. I’ve trained my people to tell people filming that if it was you overdosing, drunk, tripping balls naked or any other medical issue you wouldn’t want it to be viral tomorrow. Don’t be “that guy.” We use the group to shame the person filming.

If HIPAA laws were indeed the reason for the show’s cancellation, bringing it back could be difficult. Nevertheless, if the laws weren’t the primary issue, there might still be hope. With enough fan support and petitioning, who knows what could happen?
