Live Shows Continue: Quarterfinals Night Two [LIVE UPDATES] – GoldDerby

“America’s Got Talent” continues to countdown to the season 19 finale on Tuesday with the second live show of the summer. In this quarter-finals round, which consist of four episodes, 11 acts per night take to the stage. Only four will make the cut and move on in the competition.

One will get a Golden Buzzer from one of the judges — Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel or Sofia Vergara — while three will top the tally when America votes.

On the August 20 quarterfinal of “AGT,” the line-up includes three of the Golden Buzzer acts: Schumacher, Legión and Sky Elements. Also in the hunt to be the season 19 champion are: AIRFOOTWORKS, Alex Sampson, Ashlee Montague, Bboy Samuka, Biko’s Manna, Brooke Bailey, NiNi and Young-Min.

Follow along as we recap all the action on “America’s Got Talent” Season 19 Episode 11 in our minute-by-minute blog.

8:02 p.m. – For this week’s set of performances, Terry gave the power of the Golden Buzzer to Howie. With the power, Howie will be able to choose one act of the night to send straight through to The Finals.

8:03 p.m. – Up first was Sofia’s Golden Buzzer choice from the auditions rounds, the fiery Argentinian dance group Legión. Tonight the group lit both their boots and hats on fire and added a drummer to the stage, but otherwise very little stakes were raised in their second showing to the audience. Sofia was still a fan, emphasizing that they aren’t “really professional but are still so good.” Howie knew he’d get booed when he argued that they didn’t elevate their act. Heidi disagreed with him and said that they were “mucho, mucho caliente” and asked that if they perform again they bring Sofia on the stage. Simon said he loved their audition, but he was disappointed with their live performance and admitted it “wasn’t as good as he thought it would be.”

8:10 p.m. – Next up was Ashlee Montague, a contortionist who has amazed viewers with her flexible moves. She began her performance emerging from a suitcase, showing off her incredible flexibility and strength. While Simon praised her for originality and showmanship, Heidi felt the act needed more wow factors to stand out in such a tough competition. Sofia admired her effort and grace, but wasn’t fully convinced about its uniqueness. Howie, as the night’s Golden Buzzer holder, found her charming but thought the act lacked the finale level excitement they were searching for.

8:20 p.m. – The hilarious Biko’s Manna took the stage afterwards. His stand-up comedy had the audience in stitches, hitting relatable notes about daily life and modern technology. Simon commented on his fresh humor and crowd connection, while Heidi was delighted and wanted more. Sofia highlighted his clever approach, and Howie considered him one of the best comedians they’ve had, but it still left him pondering whether it was worthy of the Golden Buzzer.

8:30 p.m. – Up next, Alex Sampson, a young singer-songwriter, delivered a heartfelt original song. His emotional performance resonated with the judges. Sofia complimented his voice and songwriting skills, while Heidi appreciated his vulnerability. Simon saw potential but advised sharpening his stage presence. Howie, moved by his genuine lyrics, still had reservations about whether he could survive against more seasoned competitors.

8:45 p.m. – The much-awaited Sky Elements, a drone light show act, dazzled the audience with a stunning display of synchronized drones creating intricate patterns in the sky. Simon couldn’t hold back his admiration, calling it groundbreaking. Heidi and Sofia were in awe, praising the innovation and visual beauty. Howie acknowledged the complexity and brilliance of the act, leaving the audience guessing if this would be his Golden Buzzer choice.

8:55 p.m. – Later, the stage saw AIRFOOTWORKS, a modern dance troupe, perform an electrifying routine. Heidi admired their energy and precision, Simon saw potential but felt more variety in choreography was needed. Sofia loved the performance’s vibrancy, while Howie noted their technical skill but remained cautious about their overall impression compared to other acts.

9:05 p.m. – Brooke Bailey, an opera singer with a powerful voice, captivated the judges with a classical piece. Simon was mesmerized by her control and strength, Heidi praised her elegance, and Sofia remarked on the emotional depth she delivered. Howie saw undeniable talent but noted opera’s niche appeal in the broader competition context.

9:15 p.m. – Bboy Samuka, a breakdancer, came next with his high-energy routine. Simon liked the intensity and skills but advised on more creativity. Sofia was thrilled by his moves, seeing potential for further rounds. Heidi loved his tenacity, and Howie enjoyed the performance but hinted at needing innovation to differentiate from past contestants.

9:25 p.m. – Then, NiNi, a magician, brought a touch of mystery and wonder. Her illusions had the judges spellbound. Simon found her fascinating, Heidi appreciated the clever trickery, and Sofia was entertained by the magical flair. Howie enjoyed the act but wondered about its mass appeal.

9:35 p.m. – The night ended with Schumacher, another Golden Buzzer act. His gripping performance involved a mix of acrobatics and storytelling that left the judges impressed. Simon commented on his unique blend of art forms, Heidi and Sofia were emotional and praised his creativity. Howie saw both talent and bravery, concluding the night with a lot to think about.

9:45 p.m. – Ultimately, Howie faced a tough decision. After pondering over each act’s potential and performance, he pressed the Golden Buzzer for Sky Elements, sending them straight to the finals amidst cheers and confetti.

With each new quarter-final bringing fresh talent and heightened stakes, the countdown to the grand finale promises more excitement. Stay tuned as the journey to crown America’s next great talent continues.
